The Peterborough Telegraph is running regular spotlights on cats that need new homes to support the work of animal charities in the Peterborough area
The Peterborough and District Branch of the RSPCA do so much to rescue, nurture and subsequently rehome all kinds of pets in the area. They have continued to operate throughout lockdown and within a small radius are still permitted to rehome these animals.
Below are a selection of those that have been rescued and are in desperate need of their forever home.

This gorgeous young lady came into the centre due to her having health problems. On examination with our vet it was found that Chelsea was suffering from a bladder stone which she has had successfully removed, but potential adopters need to be aware that these may reoccur. She will also need to be on a special urinary diet for her lifetime to help prevent these re-occurring. Our vet would be able to offer her new owners advice on this. Chelsea has settled into cattery life well now that she is feeling alot better and enjoys affection on her terms.. In her new home she will need a room or quiet area where she can go if she feels overwhelmed or just wants her own space and when she is more confident she will need to be able to go outside and explore. Because of her being long haired she will need regular grooming to keep her coat in good condtion and free from knots and tangles. The adoption fee for this animal is £85. Photo: Midlands

This beautiful lady is Evie. Evie is friendly and likes to be made a fuss of. Evie is also an independant lady and we think this is because she was probably a stray for quite some time. As Evie is used to the great outdoors, we feel that a rural home with a garden will suit her best, giving her the freedom to roam whilst having all the benfits of a loving home - a warm place to snuggle with her new family. Meet Boots - a lively little boy and very playful. Little boots suffers from stress and gets cystitis sometimes as a result. The vets have done tests and have discovered this link. It's very important to help to keep his stress levels down which is why we are recommending an adult only household. Boots finds it difficult to be around little people, and his new family just needs to be aware of and manage this. This is sweet and handsome Simba. He arrived at the centre after his owner was no longer able to care for him. Simba has found it a little difficult to settle into the centre. He would tend to try and hide from the staff in his tunnel. However, we are recently started to see that he is becoming more relaxed around us after spending some one on one time with him. Simba now doesn't try to hide from you when you go to see him instead he is seen napping on his chair. Some mornings you will find that he is waiting for you at the door meowing. Simba has also began to enjoy some affection from a nice fuss on the head. As Simba is still a little nervous he can tell you when he has had enough by swipping at you. His new owners will have to understand to give him space when he wants it and that he might be very nervous when he arrives at his new home. The adoption fee for this animal is £85. Photo: Midlands
