Nene Park Trust, which runs the country park in Peterborough, said on Saturday car parks would close the following day due to a “concerning number of people not adhering to social distancing guidelines and the Park Code”.

It promised to re-evaluate the situation today (Monday).

Posting on Twitter this afternoon, the trust said: “After much consideration, we have started to gradually and carefully re-open the car parks at #FerryMeadows to accommodate manageable numbers of visitors. At this time, it is critical that people travel by car to the Park as a last resort. Read more: https://nenepark.org.uk/news/nene-park-statement-ferry-meadows-car-parks-set-to-gradually-re-open.”

Police attended Ferry Meadows on Saturday with visitors to the country park also said to be parking in residential streets.
