The two and three bedroom homes - including one bungalow - would be situated at Cranmore House, Thorney Road, if approved by the city council.

However, there would be no affordable homes due to a “viability assessment,” according to applicants Cranmore Developments Limited, which added: “A significant proportion of the dwellings will be available at the lower end of the market and attractive as first homes.”

The site has previously received planning permission for 14 dwellings which has now elapsed.

A second application for 22 homes was refused both by the council and on appeal, although the new plans submitted to the council state that the issues have now been addressed.

It is added: “The proposed development will provide 25 new dwellings and open space, providing much needed smaller homes of bespoke design and high quality.

“The proposed scheme makes the best use of land and represents a sustainable development in a sustainable location.

“The scheme has been carefully designed so that it does not have an adverse impact on the amenities of neighbouring occupiers, or the occupiers of the scheme itself, and will be in character with the area.

“It therefore complies with the council’s policies.”

The application is for seven houses and one bungalow with two bedrooms, and 17 three-bedroom homes.

Parking would be provided through spaces or garages.
