Peterborough pub’s new lounge venture has got soul

Music lovers Kirstene and Stuart “Jonno” Johnson have revamped the marquee behind the Golden Pheasant at Etton, which they have run for more than two years, and turned it into JK’s Soul Lounge. From tonight there will be background music - rather than one of Jonno’s full-on DJ sets - and table service for over-21s who fancy a more chilled evening. The Lounge will be open from 6pm on Fridays and Saturdays, and from 12 noon on Sundays, in addition to opening hours at the pub which is popular with diners. The pub benefits from a large beer garden, which has been ideal since reopening after lockdown. However, with nights turning colder the couple decided to put the marquee to good use. Customers will be seated at high tables or on low sofas, accommodating 60 socially distanced. The Lounge has its own bar and will operate table service only - with beer, wine, spirits and cocktails on the menu. “We want people to sit down, be waited on and enjoy the ambience.” said Stuart.
