The Sharman Quinney Group launched their 500 Smiles Easter campaign to give disadvantaged children in the city something to enjoy on Easter Day (April 4).

The group have set themselves the target of donating 500 eggs collectively from their 22 branches across Cambridgeshire, Northamptonshire and Lincolnshire.

The group consists of Sharman Quinney, Pattison Lane, Kevin Henry and Hurfods, and has branches on Newark Avenue, Orton Centre, Stanground, Hampton, Werrington, Yaxley, Whittlesey and Stamford amongst others.

A full list of their branches can be found on the Sharman Quinney website.

Eggs can be dropped off at any of these branches and they will be donated to the closest food banks in the Trussell Trust network, a network of over 1200 food banks in the UK.

The appeal follows on from the success of their Christmas food bank appeal, which saw 600kg of food donated from their five Peterborough branches alone, equating to 1300 meals.

Juliet Welsh, Peterborough Foodbank Manager, said: “We are delighted to receive these Easter Eggs which we can give away in our emergency food parcels.

“We feed many families who are struggling financially, and it is lovely to be able to give them a treat, particularly when many families are facing hardship due to Covid this year.

“I am sure these will brighten their day!”

All branches are encouraging their communities to drop into the office with an egg or two to be included within the collection.
