Last week Cain International, which owns the Prezzo chain, announced 22 restaurants would close, and more than 200 jobs lost.

The move was to secure the chain’s future and the majority of jobs at its restaurants. However, on Friday, Prezzo Trading applied to the city council’s licensing department for the transfer of the premises licence.
And today, a spokesperson said: “I can confirm that this site is not one of the 22 sites that is set to close.”
Peterborough’s Prezzo opened in the former O’Connell’s pub on the corner of Cross Street in 2005 and was refurbished in 2016.
It is currently open for takeaways and deliveries, Thursday to Sunday.
