Work has been going on for some weeks, converting the former Pret A Manger outlet in Queensgate with a frontage into Long Causeway.

And today it was announced that the doors will open to the public -for takeaway only of course - next week.

A Costa Coffee spokesperson, said: “We are really proud to be a part of the Peterborough community and are delighted to confirm that we will be opening the doors to our new and larger Costa Coffee store in Queensgate Shopping Centre, Peterborough on Thursday, April 1. Although the old store will close, all eight Costa Coffee team members will move to the new store and can’t wait to start welcoming both their regular and new customers into the new store when it’s opened.

“Across all our stores, we have implemented strict measures to ensure we operate safely, including social distancing, hand-sanitiser stations and enhanced cleaning processes, as well as additional training and support for team members. At this time, all Costa Coffee stores in England are open for takeaway only, items can also be purchased via our mobile ordering service from our Costa Coffee app and for delivery, via Uber Eats or Deliveroo. We can’t wait to open and start welcoming the local community to the new store so they can purchase their favourite Costa coffee.”

Pret A Manger opened in 2013 and announced its closure in July last year.

As well as its unit in Queensgate, Costa has seven other outlets across the city.
