Cosy up for a bargain lunch or dinner this month in Stamford

Stamford’s Cosy Club has launched a brilliant midweek dining deal for January – to make those cold, dark days worth going out.

From Monday to Thursday until the end of the month, lunch dishes (12-5pm) are £12 and dinner dishes (5pm - close) are only £14 each (excluding steaks).

Proper plates, familiar favourites and the kind of food that makes a gloomy evening feel like a good idea – at a price that makes treating yourself feel perfectly reasonable.

If you’re in the mood for seafood, the King Prawn & Cod Linguine pairs king prawns and line-caught cod with a creamy saffron, lemon zest and white wine sauce -rich without being heavy, and perfect for lingering over.

For something warming and aromatic, the Malvani Chicken Curry brings chargrilled chicken breast simmered in a coconut, red onion and tamarind sauce, served with fragrant cumin rice and cooling raita.

There’s a plant-based take too, with the Chestnut Mushroom, Tomato & Spinach Malvani Curry, sautéed in the same home-made curry sauce and served with cumin rice and a fresh cucumber and tomato salad – comforting, fragrant and naturally gluten-free.

If fish is calling, the Pan-Fried Fillet of Sea Bream is served with a coconut and kaffir lime sauce, Asian greens, crispy lotus root and sweet rice -light, balanced and full of flavour.

In the afternoons, burgers, sandwiches and proper plates – cooked the same way we always do, just with a January price that makes saying “shall we grab lunch?” feel like a very good idea.

The Cosy Smash Burger is a proper double: beef rib patties with cheddar, pickles, caramelised onions and house bacon jam, finished with gravy mayonnaise and served with dipping gravy on the side.

There’s also the Cosy Vegan Smash Burger, stacked just as proudly with a double plant-based patty, caramelised onion, tomato, black pepper aioli and house pickles.

For something classic, the Cosy House Burger keeps it spot on with a beef rib patty, pickles, house bacon jam and mizuna -with the option to add Somerset brie, treacle-cured pork belly, streaky bacon or Barber’s Vintage Cheddar if the mood takes you.

And if you fancy something with a bit of crunch, the Korean Fried Chicken Burger brings crispy chicken in a gochujang glaze, carrot and sesame slaw, garlic aioli, crispy onions and pickled gherkins.

If it is a sandwich you crave, there’s warm focaccia, generous fillings and fries on the side – just as they should be.

The Chicken & Smoked Bacon Focaccia comes loaded with butter-roasted chicken, crispy bacon, lettuce, tomato and red pepper pesto. The Cod & Tartare Brioche pairs panko-crusted cod with pickled hispi cabbage, gem lettuce and house tartare sauce.

And when lunch turns into brunch, the Cosy Butcher’s Brunch brings together treacle-cured pork belly chop, Cumberland sausages, smoked back bacon, free-range eggs, hash browns, chorizo beans and toasted sourdough. Or take the lighter route with the Garden Brunch, featuring halloumi, free-range eggs, smashed avocado, roasted vine tomatoes and all the trimmings.

If you’re after something fresher, there are salads that still feel like a proper lunch.
