All you need to know about the pop-up food festival coming to Peterborough

A two-day “drive-in” food festival will take over a Peterborough car park this weekend.

The street food celebration is to be held on Saturday and Sunday outside the Van Hage store on the PE1 Retail Park at Eye. Visitors will be able to have their orders taken from their cars, pay contactless and have their food delivered to their vehicles. There will be a hog roast, noodle bar, Mexican, mac and cheese stall, crepes, ice creams and drinks bar, It will be open from 3pm to 8pm on Saturday and 12pm to 5pm on Sunday - when there will also be pop-up Sunday roast dinners. Organiser Adam Coulton - a music festival organiser who saw his events wiped out by the Covid-19 pandemic, said: “People haven’t got much to focus on at the moment, but everyone loves food and we thought there was a gap in the market for something like this.” The Peterborough pop-up will be Adam’s third - using food vendors who would normally serve at his music concerts. “It is a very simple model - good food, a variety of options- straight in and out. It will be set up very much like a drive-thru. The car park will be marked out for people to drive in and stop while someone takes their order. Food will be brought back to the car - and if it is a big order there will be bays for people to wait. Our first event went very well (the second was in Norwich at the weekend) and hopefully the demand will continue.”
