15 Valentine’s Day takeaways for loved-up couples in Peterborough

Your favourite restaurants might be closed right now, but all across Peterborough chefs will be doing what they can to make Valentine’s Day weekend special.

From free goodie bags to fantastic set menus it will still be possible to enjoy the special occasion with a meal for two from your favourite place - albeit at home.

Prem Devkota, at Gurkha Durbaar in Broadway, has a surprise in store for his customers.

“Last year, we had a memorable Valentine’s Day at our restaurant,” he said. “Unfortunately, due to current situation, our beloved customers can’t dine in but this year we’re giving away an exclusive surprise goodie bag for all our customers who order a takeaway on Valentine’s Day. ”

Chef Nick Rutta wouldn’t usually be open on a Sunday, but this week he  will be cooking up something special at his Embe Soul Food restaurant on Cowgate - with some extra special Afro-Caribbean sharing dishes  for those that use his new app to order  (embesoulfood).

His near neighbour Pizza Parlour in Cowgate has put together a special Valentine’s offer, available now until Sunday. There’s three courses - with a small bottle of Prosecco - for £19.95 each.

As ever, John McGinn at The  Dog in a Doublet, near Whittlesey, is pulling out all the stops with a special three-course meal - including a totally vegan option. It is £39.95 per person, available Friday to Sunday.

Italian restaurants Mattoni at Eye and Hampton have put together antipasti and formaggio (£25 serves two) and a dolce box (£12.95 serves 2). It is available Saturday or Sunday.

Indian gastro pub Tap and Tandoor in Cumbergate, currently operating Thursday to Saturday, will have a Valentine’s mixed grill for two on the menu on Sunday.

The Falcon Inn at Fotheringhay is offering three courses for two (£60) plus boxes of chocolates for £10.

Turkish and Moroccan specialist Tavan on Lincoln Road is offering a three course meal for two delivered, which costs £25.

Inari Sushi and Grill on Broadway has a special set dinner on its menu, while across the road 
 Bombay Brasserie will have all its usual Indian delights but will also be offering three special set menus on Sunday.

Piri chicken specialist The Ladz on Cowgate has 10 per cent off for collections on Sunday, while 
Gurkha Lounge at Hampton Vale has its full menu available - with 20 per cent off for collections.

You can choose from the full menu at Angel Spice at Stilton with a rose for your loved one on collection, or a £5 voucher for deliveries.

The Queen’s Head, at Nassington, is offering a three-course oven ready meal with Prosecco for £40 per person  as well as an afternoon tea box, both available on Saturday.
