Peterborough store’s Christmas gift for children’s charity

Peterborough’s Boots store, which is located inside Queensgate Shopping Centre, has generously donated a huge selection of toys to Spurgeons Children’s Charity.

Representatives from the charity – which helps children disadvantaged by poverty, neglect, harm or abuse in the Peterborough area – collected the toys, which will be distributed to the families that the charity support this Christmas, from the store last week.

“At Boots we aim to support the local community in Peterborough wherever we can, and this year we were thrilled to be able to donate over 100 toys to Spurgeons to help children enjoy their Christmas. It is a truly wonderful cause and I’d encourage anyone to help in any way they can”, says Boots Store Manager, Craig Wilkinson.

In addition to the donated toys, visitors of the shopping centre are invited to donate what they can to Spurgeons either via the donation box at the Giving Tree outside JD Sports, or online at www.justgiving.com/spurgeons-charity.

If shoppers wish to donate a new and unwrapped gift to the Giving Tree, they can do so at the donation drop off point on the Lower Mall opposite the Christmas Scene, during the following days and times:

Monday 14th and 21st December: 9am – 4pm

Tuesday 8th, 15th and 22nd December: 9am – 4pm

Wednesday 23rd December: 9am – 12.30pm

Thursday 10th December: 9am – 2pm

Thursday 17th December: 9am – 4pm

Friday 11th and 18th December: 9am – 4pm

A volunteer for Spurgeons Children’s Charity commented: “We would like to say a massive thank you to the Boots team at Queensgate Shopping Centre for donating gifts to our Christmas Gift Tree this year, and extend that thanks to anyone who has kindly dropped off a gift or shared a monetary donation with us at the shopping centre. Each gift and donation is more than a simple present – it is a gift of joy for families in need.”
