Residents will not be encouraged to attend Cathedral Square for the annual switch on this year due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
Full details of this year’s event will be released by Peterborough City Council later in the year. There has been no announcement about whether a Christmas market will be taking place this year.
The lights switch on is one of the biggest events of the year, with hundreds of families normally packing into the square in November.
After years of having a metal Christmas tree, which split opinion amongst residents, Cathedral Square was given a ‘real’ tree again in 2019.
