Looking Back: ‘Were you a shopper at one of Peterborough’s Wahiwala stores?’
This week’s pictures from Chris Porsz are all from the same area of Peterborough.
The three pictures were all taken in the early 1980s and show images of the popular Wahiwala shops on the corner of Russell Street and Cromwell Road.
Chris said: “I am hoping someone may recognise some of the younger characters as I would like to return them for another picture to include in my Reunions the sequel book.’’
The top picture reveals the shop was a ‘textiles and bedding centre’.
I wonder if it also sold cigarettes? The advert in the window reads “Woodbine – A great little cigarette”.
