The three pictures were all taken in the early 1980s and show images of the popular Wahiwala shops on the corner of Russell Street and Cromwell Road.

Chris said: “I am hoping someone may recognise some of the younger characters as I would like to return them for another picture to include in my Reunions the sequel book.’’

The top picture reveals the shop was a ‘textiles and bedding centre’.

I wonder if it also sold cigarettes? The advert in the window reads “Woodbine – A great little cigarette”.
