Looking back: ‘Last days of Peterborough East railway station’

Here are two more pictures from the archive of Railworld founder, the late Rev Richard Paten, submitted by his friend Brian Pearce.

Both pictures show views of the demolition work on the old Peterborough East station in Station Road.

The first picture was taken in April 1972.

The second photograph was taken a month later. Peterborough East opened on June 2, 1845 and closed to passenger traffic on June 6 1966.

Have you got any pictures of Peterborough people and places from the 60s, 70s, 80s or 90s?

If so, and you’d like to share them with Looking back readers, send them to [email protected]
