It’s incredible to think how much Peterborough has changed over the decades.
These images show some of the major developments.
Do you think things have changed for the better?

1. The centre of the centre
This is not a very old picture, dating back just nine years to 2012, but such is the pace of change in Peterborough this view is changing as we speak. Work on building a multiplex cinema is continuing and altering the view of the Queensgate Centre. What is fascinating about this shot is they way it shows just how vast the centre is dwarfing everything around it . Photo: Midlands
2. Bridging the difference
This great aerial shot from the 70s shows Nene Parkway under construction near Orton Staunch with work ongoing on the bridge over the Nene, which would transform the city’s traffic flow. You can also see Thorpe Wood golf course starting to take shape althought work had not yet started on the rowing lake. Photo: Midlands
3. Ferry wet Meadows
The recent flooding in and around Peterborough brought misery for many. It will have also brought back memories of the ‘once in a lifetime’ flooding that occurred at Easter 1998. This picture shows the flooding at Ferry Meadows. Fortunately, the water didn’t reach the caravan park (bottom left).
4. Hospital view
This aerial picture shows the old Peterborough District Hospital in Thorpe Road. The site has been extensively redeveloped with scores of new homes and a new school, West Town Academy. The school incorporated the frontage of the Memorial Hospital (bottom left of the picture).
