Calls for action over 'nightmare' flooded underpasses in Peterborough
With the city battered by string winds and rain due to Storm Ashley over the weekend, two subways in Paston- located at Crabtree and Cathwaite were left impassable.

One resident told the Peterborough Telegraph: “I have lived in Crabtree for over 40 years and this has always been a problem.”
Another added: “We have been dealing with this for as long as I can remember. It got so bad, there were even cyclists crossing the parkway, which is very dangerous."
Paston and Walton ward councillor Alex Rafiq has thanked the council for their quick response but called for the overall drainage infrastructure of the area to be investigated.

"I report it to highways and they send people out to drain it quickly but as soon as it rains, it is just like that again. It’s really frustrating. That is appreciated but it is only a temporary fix until it rains again.
"I am in contact with the council, highways and Anglian Water to try and get it resolved. This is an issue that is causing problems across Peterborough too.
"The whole drainage infrastructure needs sorting so this never happens again. I am pushing for this.”
