Peterborough GP surgery goes up for sale as relocation planned

A Peterborough GP surgery has been listed for sale.

The building currently used by the Nene Valley Hodgson Medical Practice- at Hodgson Avenue in Werrington- has been listed for a guide price of £225,000.

The surgery is currently in the process of relocating to a vacant building 0.7 miles away in Skaters Way.

The building was previously occupied by the Werrington Health Centre, which itself closed in March 2025 after services were combined with the nearby Werrington Surgery on Church Street.

The practice partners have said that the move would create the opportunity to deliver care ‘from a larger, more modern, and better-designed environment.’

The current Hodgson building was designed in the 1980s to serve around 2,000 patients and the surgery now has over 5,200 patients.

The practice partners confirmed: “The Skaters Way premises offers a significant opportunity for NVH to improve patient access, expand clinical capacity, and deliver modern primary care in a more suitable environment. The site offers more than double the GP accommodation than the current Hodgson building, alongside improved parking, better accessibility, and space for future service development.

"There are strict limitations on the numbers of clinical staff we can host from our current Hodgson site due to the space. The amount of space available to the practice following a move to Skaters Way would increase straight away; we would gain more clinical space. Which in turn would allow us to host more of our current team there. We are currently out to advert for an additional salaried GP to join our team.

"Our current availability is limited by the number of clinical appointments we have to offer at any one time, this number could increase with more space and clinical time available to us.”

Plans are to submit the formal application to move by the end of the Autumn 2026.
