The Oncology and Haematology Day Unit has benefitted from past donations from the Crowland Cancer Fund and has previously been able to purchase comfortable chairs for relatives to use.

The fundraising group was set up to provide support for cancer patients and their families who live in the Parish of Crowland and is an independent charity run by volunteers.

Linda Nkhata, Chemotherapy Unit Manager at Peterborough City Hospital, said: “The wife of one of our patients watched her husband regularly attend our service for treatment. She then went on to nominate the department to benefit from the Crowland Cancer Fund and we would like to say a huge thank you.”

“Many of the people supported by the fund have had first-hand experience, either themselves or with loved ones who have been treated in our department. This donation will help to provide those extra items that will provide a more comfortable environment for patients.”

Libby Jackson, Secretary for the Crowland Cancer Fund explains, “We were delighted to award the unit with the £4,000 donation. We know that this donation will help to support constituents of the Crowland area to receive the necessary cancer care.”
