NHS services open in Peterborough and Cambridgeshire over Easter

Dr Gary Howsam, chair of the NHS Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) and a local GP, said: “The NHS is here to help you this Easter and you should continue to seek medical treatment if and when you need it.

“If you need urgent medical support that isn’t an emergency please think 111 first - they will direct you to the right service for your illness or injury. If you need urgent care NHS 111 can book you in to be seen quickly and safely. This could be with a GP, at an urgent treatment centre or minor injury unit, or even at A&E; whatever is the most appropriate care for you.”

The vaccine programme will continue to run throughout April with a large number of second dose vaccinations being delivered.

Dr Howsam added: “If you have a vaccine appointment booked over the coming weeks, whether for your first or second dose, this will remain in place and it’s really important that you attend it as planned.

“If you are waiting to receive an appointment for your second dose please do not contact the GP practice. You will be contacted when it is your turn.

“And whether you have had the vaccine or not it’s crucial everyone continues to follow all the guidance in place to control the virus and save lives.”

What is open in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough over Easter Bank Holiday weekend:

NHS 111: If you need urgent medical support over the Easter weekend, think 111 First. NHS 111 is available on the phone and online 24/7 at 111.nhs.uk and will help you right away. And if you need urgent care, it will book you in to be seen quickly and safely. This could be with a GP, urgent treatment centre or A&E.

Pharmacies: Can help with a range of things including hangovers, hayfever, colds, emergency contraception and non-prescription medication. Pharmacies will be open on Good Friday and Easter Monday with some pharmacies also open on Easter Sunday.

Minor injury units and urgent treatment centres: Can help with a range of minor illnesses and injuries such as sprains and strains, broken bones, minor burns and scalds, minor head and eye injuries, bites and stings.

Peterborough Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC), City Care Centre, Thorpe Road, Peterborough, PE3 6DB. Open every day from 8am to 8pm (X-ray services 8am – 8pm)

Ely Minor Injury Unit, Princess of Wales Hospital, Lynn Road, Ely, CB6 1DN will be open every day from 8.30am – 6pm.
