New buildings lifted into place at Peterborough City Hospital

New buildings to help increase capacity at Peterborough City Hospital have been lifted into place.

The ‘modular’ buildings were put in place yesterday to help front line staff deal with the COVID pandemic. They will be used to help assess youngsters who come to the hospital.

Some disruption to traffic was caused as a result of the operation.

Graham Wilde, Chief Operating Officer at North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust, said: “The new modular buildings are an addition to the hospital and will be used as part of the reconfiguration of our emergency floor at Peterborough City Hospital.

“Modular builds are a way of utilising modern building techniques to provide high quality buildings. The modular building being craned in this week is to be used to house a new paediatric assessment unit complete with a waiting area.”
