Peterborough’s Perkins Great Eastern Run cancelled for second year in a row

The Perkins Great Eastern run will not be held this year, due to the uncertainty of Covid-19 and its impact in the coming months.

The decision was reluctantly made after careful consideration by both Peterborough City Council and Peterborough Limited. The event did not take place last year due to the pandemic.

The event normally takes many months to plan and deliver, and the continued uncertainty around Covid-19 and its impact on the summer months made it impossible to plan for and deliver a successful event that participants could enjoy.

In addition to this, Covid infection rates in Peterborough are still above the national average and therefore planning to bring large groups together would not be sensible at this time. The health and wellbeing of residents and supporting our NHS has to come first. The council and Peterborough Ltd will though plan to make the event bigger and better in 2022.
