Peterborough hospitals trust announces five more patient deaths related to coronavirus

The North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust which runs Peterborough City Hospital and Hinchingbrooke Hospital has announced that five more patients with coronavirus have died.

The trust has announced that, since its last update at the start of this month, three more patients have died at Peterborough City hospital and two at Hinchingbrooke hospital bringing the total number of deaths reported by the trust to 257.

Caroline Walker, Chief Executive, for North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust, said: “I can confirm that sadly, 257 patients being cared for in our Trust have passed away since we began reporting Covid-19-related deaths. There have been 102 at Hinchingbrooke Hospital and 155 at Peterborough City Hospital.

“All patients were aged 30 to 98 years old and had pre-existing health conditions.

“Our thoughts and condolences remain with the patients’ families and loved ones at this difficult time.”

Latest data from the government shows there have been a total of 1,518 cases of Covid-19 diagnosed in Peterborough.

The city remains on the government watchlist although in recent days new case rates have shown week on week declines.

The updated figures mean that since the start of the pandemic Peterborough has a rate of 750.5 cases per 100,000 population compared with the average for England at 481.4 and the East of England region at 407.4.
