Throughout the pandemic residents have been keen to help the staff at the hospital in which ever way they can, including by sending tasty treats.

A spokesman for North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust said: "We have a lot of food and drink donations coming in to us and we really are grateful for this. However, to keep our staff and patients safe, the Trust would like to clarify what we are able and unable to accept at the hospital.

• As we are on national lockdown, we ask that no non-essential journeys are made to our hospital sites please. However we are still accepting posted deliveries and if you email [email protected] prior to sending your donation then we can advise to whom it should be addressed.

"In order to manage our donations, we ask that you don’t send in donations without contacting us first. This is to confirm we are able to accept your donation and so we can ensure it is correctly addressed to the relevant area."

The trust spokesman added: "we do not require donations of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

"We do not currently require donations of hand-crafted items such as scrubs, fabric face masks, uniform bags, possession bags, blankets or accessories for newborns.

"Please email [email protected] with any other offer of support and we will be happy to help.

"Please do not attend the hospital to offer support. Stay home, stay safe. Thank you."
