The vaccinations are being offered at the Halls the Chemist site at Napier Place, Orton Wistow and are open to anyone over the age of 70 or who is classed as clinically vulnerable and has received a letter advising them to book an appointment.

The site has been vaccinating people since last Thursday (February 4) as the city has ramped up its vaccination efforts.

This week, the government urged that anyone over the age of 70 that had not yet been offered a vaccine contact their local NHS provider to book an appointment.

The government has until February 15 to meet its deadline of offering all of those in the top four priority groups a vaccine by that date. These are: those over 70, health and social care workers, care home residents and those deemed to be clinically vulnerable.

Dr Nikki Kanani, medical director for primary care at NHS England and a practising GP, said: “The NHS vaccination programme, the biggest in health service history, is off to a strong start with every eligible care home receiving a visit and millions more people being vaccinated at one of over 1,500 centres across the country thanks to the tireless efforts of my colleagues.

“But if you are aged 70 and over, and haven’t yet received your vaccine, please come forward and make an appointment as soon as you can.

“The vaccine is safe, simple, and will offer you and those around you crucial protection against this virus.”
