Yesterday Caroline Walker, Chief Executive, for North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust which runs the hospital, confirmed the tragic news - which was an increase from 396 confirmed the day before. She, said: “I can confirm that sadly, 577 patients being cared for in our Trust have passed away since we began reporting Covid-19-related deaths. There have been 178 at Hinchingbrooke Hospital and 399 at Peterborough City Hospital. All patients were aged 30 to 98 years old and the majority of those had pre-existing health conditions."

However, the number of patients at hospitals run by the trusts has dropped. On Tuesday the figure stood at 281, while yesterday Ms Walker said the number was 269.
