No fines issued in Peterborough for face covering breaches on first weekend of new law

No penalties were issued in Peterborough over the weekend for people breaching rules regarding face coverings.

The rules were changed on Friday, meaning residents now have to wear a covering over their mouth and nose when in shops and enclosed public spaces, although there are a number of exemptions where people do not have to wear a mask.

The penalty for breaching the rules is a fixed penalty notice of up to £100.

Today, a Cambridgeshire police spokesman said no fixed penalty notices had been handed out over the weekend for breaching the restrictions.
