Large rise in COVID cases in one Peterborough neighbourhood as 20 areas record at least three cases in a week

In the seven days ending Friday, October 9, there were 18 positive tests recorded in Hampton Vale - in the previous seven days there were just five positive tests.

The new numbers put the neighbourhood at the top of the list for Peterborough positive cases last week,

Last week 20 neighbourhoods in the city recorded at least three cases - three more than the previous week.

Walton and Fletton did not record three or more positive tests.

A number of areas surrounding Peterborough have also recorded at least three, with Yaxley and Farcet, Whittlesey, King’s Cliffe, Woodnewton & Easton, Stamford Central, West and South, Stamford North, Deeping St James & Frognall, Market Deeping, Crowland, Wisbech and Wisbech St Mary, Waldersea & Christchurch all having at least three cases.

The data comes from Public Health England, who have split the country into neighbourhoods of approximately 7,200 people. The data includes lab confirmed positive cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19) reported by 11th October with specimen dates between 3rd October and 9th October 2020.

Cases from pillar 1 and pillar 2 of the Government’s testing programme are included.

Yesterday North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust confirmed a further five deaths from COVID at their hospitals.

Caroline Walker, Chief Executive, for North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust, said: “I can confirm that sadly, 265 patients being cared for in our Trust have passed away since we began reporting Covid-19-related deaths. There have been 103 at Hinchingbrooke Hospital and 162 at Peterborough City Hospital. All patients were aged 30 to 98 years old and had pre-existing health conditions.

“Our thoughts and condolences remain with the patients’ families and loved ones at this difficult time.”
