Coronavirus: Another patient passes away at Peterborough City Hospital

Another patient with coronavirus has died at Peterborough City Hospital as the number of cases in the city rose to 101 according to the latest figures.

The number of deaths at Peterborough City Hospital has risen to 26, while the number at Hinchingbrooke Hospital remains at 19, bringing the total at hospitals run by the North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust to 45 since March 24.

In a statement this afternoon (Sunday, April 12), Caroline Walker, Chief Executive, for North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust, said: “I can confirm that sadly, a total of 45 patients being cared for in our Trust have passed away since we began reporting Covid-19-related deaths. There have been 19 at Hinchingbrooke Hospital and 26 at Peterborough City Hospital. Patients were aged 30 to 90 years old and had pre-existing health conditions. They had all tested positive for COVID-19.

“Our thoughts and condolences remain with the patients’ families and loved ones at this difficult time.”

Figures from Public Health England showed that the number of confirmed cases of coronavirus in Peterborough had risen to 101.

Nationally, a total of 10,612 patients have died in hospital after testing positive for coronavirus in the UK as of 5pm on Saturday, the Department of Health said, up by 737 from 9,875 the day before.
