Coronavirus: 24 deaths in a week at hospitals run by Peterborough trust

The past week has seen 24 deaths of Covid-19 patients at hospitals run by the North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust.

The latest figures from NHS England reveal that 162 patients have died at either Peterborough City Hospital or Hinchingbrooke Hospital in total.

At least one person has died at either hospital since April 21 - 25 days ago.

Peterborough has been one of the least affected areas in the country, but the figures are a warning that the virus remains a risk in and around the city.

The number of people in Peterborough to have tested positive for the virus has also been steadily increasing - rising from 295 at the start of the week to 368 according to the latest government figures.

The corresponding totals are 1,043 for Cambridgeshire, 1,261 for Northamptonshire and 1,036 for Lincolnshire.

In the past 24 hours, there have been 468 more Covid-19 associated deaths in the UK, bringing the overall total to 34,466.
