Cafe culture arrives in Peterborough as rain stays away for re-opening

Cafe culture has arrived in Peterborough as residents enjoyed food and drink in the chilly spring sunshine today.

Coffee shops, restaurants, cafes, pubs and bars were able to open and offer seating - as long as it is outside - today, and there were plenty of takers as a hint of normality emerged in the city centre for the first time this year.

Thankfully, the rain stayed away, and there were blue skies - even if the temperature was a bit on the chilly side - for people to catch up with friends for a drink and a bite to eat. Others took a break after hitting the shops for the first time in 2021.

There is free parking at council run car parks this week, and Car Haven in the city centre was full today.

Many establishments have set up outdoor seating areas to make the experience as comfortable as possible for visitors.

The earliest indoor seating will be available is next month.
