Queen Katharine Academy: Staff praise students for 'overcoming major hurdles' as they collect their A Level results

Students at Queen Katharine Academy, part of Thomas Deacon Education Trust, are proudlycelebrating their A-level and vocational exam successes today.

Among the impressive performers that the school has chosen to highlight are:

Iveta Mockute who achieved A* (Extended Project), A (French A-level), A (Sociology A-level), A (English Language A-level) and A (Fine Art A-level). Iveta is moving to France for a year before returning to study French at university.

Hadmilla Silva who achieved A (Spanish A-level), A (Portuguese A-level) and A (Art A-level). Hadmilla is going to take a year out before continuing her Art studies at university.

Marvel Omorogbe who achieved A* (Extended Project), A* (Spanish A-level) and Distinction* (Computing Level 3). Marvel is going to study Computing at Anglia Ruskin University.

Bernardo Olivera who achieved A (Extended Project), A (Media A-level), Distinction (Travel and Tourism Level 3) and B (Business Studies A-level). Bernardo is going to study International Business and Management at Aston University.

Kirsty Ebbles who achieved A* (Childcare Level 3), Distinction* (Computing Level 3), B (Geography A-Level) Kirsty is going to study Geography at the University of Leicester.

Damon Lewis, Director of Sixth Form, said: “Congratulations to all our Sixth Form students, who have excelled in achieving an amazing set of results. We are so proud of their achievements, and their hard work throughout their courses.

“We would like to acknowledge the resilience of our students this year for overcoming major hurdles to their studies, such as two lockdowns and additional isolation periods for many students. They have worked extremely hard to overcome these challenges and achieve a brilliant set of results, which is testament to their commitment and determination.”

Jane Driver, Head of School at Queen Katharine Academy, said: “We are incredibly proud of all our Sixth Form students for their dedication to their studies, and are delighted to celebrate their remarkable successes today.

“Our Sixth Form students enter Year 12 from a variety of schools and starting points, and the outstanding individual performances we celebrate today reflect the students’ hard work over the past two years. Thank you to our teaching and support teams and to our students’ families for all your support, care and guidance. We are so proud of our Sixth Form at QKA and of our 2022 cohort, a huge congratulations to everyone!”
