Plans for new sixth form social space at Peterborough school approved

Plans have been approved for a new social space for sixth formers at a school in Peterborough.

Arthur Mellows Village College in Glinton has received planning permission from the city council to create a new area with bench seating, tables and a timber framed canopy for pupils to use during break time and free periods.

In addition, it will add in a cycle storage area which can accommodate 74 bicycles.

The aim is to compliment a new sixth form social and study space on the western side of the existing teaching block which is due for completion this summer.

The school said in its planning application to the council that a new access road will also be needed to maintain entry to an existing storage building used by grounds maintenance staff.
