Peterborough technical college to welcome first Year 7 pupils

The Greater Peterborough University Technical College (GPUTC) has announced it is now accepting applications for its first cohort Year 7 pupils to begin attending in September.

The UTC which is based in Park Crescent, said in a statement: “Working alongside our new academic partners the Cambridge Meridian Academies Trust (CMAT) we are finally able to share this outstanding news.

“This means current Year 6 students with a passion for STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) are now able to join our school at an even earlier age.

Starting with us in Year 7 means we are able to deliver our specialist curriculum to even more of Peterborough’s budding young scientists, architects, designers and mathematicians.”

The number of Year 7 pupils able to attend in September will be capped at 60.

Principal David Bisley said that this is so “we can ensure high quality academic rigour is delivered, alongside unrivalled care, support and guidance from our dedicated Year 7 team of teachers and support staff”.
