Celebrations at All Saints Primary School in Peterborough as Ofsted deliver glowing report

Head teacher praised efforts from staff and pupils following Good rating

There have been celebrations at All Saints Primary School in Peterborough after a glowing report from Ofsted inspectors.

The inspectors rated the school, located in Dogsthorpe Road, as ‘Good’ following their visit in July before the summer holidays.

During their visit, the Ofsted team praised the pupils’ behaviour, as well as the skills of the teachers.

“The strength of our school is built around strong relationships between home and school, with a united effort pulling in the same direction at all times."

Head teacher Nick Brompton praised everyone connected to the school for the good result, saying: “The strength of our school is built around strong relationships between home and school, with a united effort pulling in the same direction at all times. This absolutely shone through during the inspection, and we see this in our school community on a day-to-day basis – every single day, from every single one of our staff members and from every single one of the children.

"We feel well supported by our parents, and we hope that they feel supported by us. We work through our challenges together, and always do what is best for the children.

“We have incredibly talented staff in our school, who continually go above and beyond with what they give of themselves. The love and care that they show to the children can be seen from the minute they arrive in the morning until they leave at the end of the day. Of course, the work doesn’t stop here for school staff, and we thank the staff for their continued dedication to their roles and our school. I am very proud to call them my colleagues.

“We have a very special school here. A school where everybody smiles, everybody is happy, and people will do anything to help another person (children, parents and staff alike). Our Christian values of love, care, acceptance, respect, redemption and neighbourliness are central to everything that we do, and we look forward to further and continued success over the coming years.”

School prioritises reading

In their report, the inspectors said: “Pupils are extremely happy here. They are hugely proud of the diversity of their community. Pupils feel privileged to be able to share important celebrations from their friends’ cultures and faiths. This helps pupils develop a deep-rooted sense of respect for each other.”

They added: “To ensure pupils can access its ambitious curriculum, the school has prioritised reading. Well-trained staff teach the adopted phonics programme well.”

The inspectors also said: “Staff are proud to work at the school. They are cared for and respected. Staff are highly positive about the school and how it is led and governed. Their workload is well managed, and their well-being is high priority.”

The team was given some areas to work on, with the report saying: “Resources and learning activities are not always designed to enable pupils to access the knowledge in the depth the school intends. Sometimes, pupils spend too long completing basic tasks when they are able to try more complex problems. This means that some pupils do not learn the curriculum in as much detail and depth as they could.”
