As the Warm Home Discount scheme is extended to support millions of households, Cadent is reminding people across Peterborough where they can access free, local support through its Centres for Warmth network.

The centres provide energy efficiency advice and income maximisation support, including help with accessing the Warm Home Discount.

With energy costs remaining a concern for many households, the centres offer practical, confidential advice to help people manage their bills, improve energy efficiency and maximise household income. This includes support to access the extended Warm Home Discount, alongside guidance on benefits, debt and other financial assistance.

Trained advisers at local Centres for Warmth can help people understand if they are eligible for schemes such as the Warm Home Discount, including recent extensions announced by the Government, as well as offer wider income-maximisation and financial guidance.

Nicola Campbell, Safeguarding Specialist at Cadent, said: “With the Warm Home Discount now extended, it’s more important than ever that people know where to turn for trusted, practical support. Our Centres for Warmth are there to help households navigate the support available to them, whether that’s advice on reducing energy use, maximising income, or accessing schemes like the Warm Home Discount.

“Nobody should have to face winter challenges alone. Anyone visiting their local Centre for Warmth will find a friendly, welcoming environment, a hot drink, and access to confidential advice tailored to their circumstances.”

Cadent’s Centre for Warmth programme brings together a nationwide network of community organisations and charities, designed to help people stay warm, safe and connected throughout the year. With millions of households still living in fuel poverty across the UK, the centres provide a welcoming space where people can seek support without stigma.

There are now more than 350 Centres for Warmth across the country, all located at the heart of local communities. Since the first centre opened in 2021, the programme has supported more than 200,000 conversations around energy efficiency and delivered almost 100,000 income-maximisation consultations, helping people to understand what support they may be entitled to.

In addition to financial and energy efficiency advice, Centres for Warmth can also support people to sign up to the Priority Services Register and provide free carbon monoxide alarms, helping to keep households safe over the colder months.

Cadent is encouraging anyone who is worried about coping this winter, or who knows someone who may be struggling, to visit their nearest Centre for Warmth to access free support.

The programme is funded via Ofgem’s Vulnerability and Carbon Monoxide Allowance. To find your nearest Centre for Warmth, please visit www.cadentgas.com/cfw.
