What you can expect from the two new businesses opening inside Peterborough’s Queensgate Shopping Centre over the coming months
Shoppers have plenty to look forward to
Peterborough’s Queensgate Shopping Centre is set to welcome two new businesses over the coming months, with preparations now well underway ahead of their respective openings.
Queensgate has already been boosted by the arrival of two new outlets in 2026, coming in the shape of Seoul Plaza and Jamaica Blue.
The UK’s leading Korean food retailer, Seoul Plaza opened its doors on the Lower Mall back in February.

Meanwhile premium coffee chain Jamaica Blue welcomed its first customers at the end of May.
At the end of 2025, Queensgate’s former flagship John Lewis Store was taken over by Frasers, Sports Direct and Flannels.
Queensgate’s string of recent openings will continue in the second half of 2026 with two new businesses arriving in the shopping centre.
We’ve taken an in-depth look at the two businesses in question.

Umami
The long-awaited arrival of Umami’s all-you-can-eat buffet inside Queensgate goes on, but diners shouldn’t have to wait too much longer before they can pile up their plates.
Umami, operated by Cosmo Restaurant Group, will occupy a 7,000 sq ft space next to the Odeon cinema on the Third Floor.
The brand blends casual dining with bold global flavours, through an elevated all-you-can-eat buffet experience showcasing over 100 dishes drawn from multiple cuisines, including Chinese, Italian, Indian, and Malaysian.

The concept will include a mix of family-friendly favourites alongside street food, and a teppanyaki station for made-to-order Japanese dishes.
Guests can also enjoy exciting Chef’s Specials from Monday to Saturday for continued variety, as well as a traditional Sunday carvery.
Work on Umami’s new site in Queensgate is well underway, with signage already teasing its opening.
Ink & Ember
Queensgate’s new independent book shop and cafe is just weeks away from opening on the centre’s Ground Floor.
Set to open its doors in July, Stamford-based Ink & Ember will become Queensgate’s haven for book lovers with its creative workshops and 20-seat cafe.
The new Peterborough shop will be known as ‘The Burrow’ and have a Wes Anderson-style theme.
Run by Peterborough-born owner Lauren Lovett, the shop will lean into a boutique hotel theme with lots of hidden areas for visitors to explore.
All roles for the new shop have been filled, with its grand opening just weeks away.
