£20,000 for Peterborough charities as holiday season celebrations take place at Amazon
The team from Amazon in Peterborough has been gearing up for the Christmas shopping season with a calendar full of festive celebrations and donations.
A family and friends day, Christmas dinners and giveaways are just some of the activities taking place at the Peterborough fulfilment centre to celebrate the work that the Amazon team is doing to deliver for customers this Christmas.
As part of the celebrations, the team at Amazon in Peterborough packed and delivered 94 Christmas kits for children at Peterborough Hospital. The kits, worth over £1,400, included colouring books, drawing tablets, Christmas costumes and more.
The Amazon fulfilment centre also donated over £8,500 to the hospital’s ‘Christmas Giving Tree’ appeal to support disadvantaged young people, as well as a further £10,000 worth of Christmas gifts including a variety of toys and much needed school items such as calculators, backpacks, water bottles to Help Empowering Lives in Peterborough (H.E.L.P), a charity that supports families in need living in the city.

Speaking on the festivities, Tomislav Batinic, Site Leader at Amazon in Peterborough, said: “The team here picks, packs and ships thousands of parcels for customers up and down the country throughout December. It’s an exciting time on site as we work together to make our processes run smoothly, safely and efficiently to deliver gifts and essentials during the festive season.
“Our month of celebrations allows us to share festive cheer and fun every day when we come into work. It’s a special time for me as the site’s Site Leader and I look forward to it every year. We’re proud to support both Peterborough Hospital and H.E.L.P with these donations and hope they make a real positive impact on those who need it most this holiday season.”
Over 75,000 permanent Amazon employees across the UK are being boosted by the efforts of more than 15,000 seasonal workers this Christmas, spread throughout the company’s logistics network.
