New Peterborough Premier Inn creates 25 new jobs

The new Premier Inn in Peterborough city centre will create 25 new jobs - and managers are looking for residents who are out of education, employment and training to jon the team.

Whitbread PLC is getting set to open its latest hotel and Thyme restaurant in Peterborough and with the building work close to completion.

The new 120-bedroom hotel and restaurant development is built on the site of the old Bridge Street Police Station – a prominent and busy location on Bridge Street – and will be Premier Inn’s first hotel in Peterborough City Centre.

Premier Inn expects to employ approximately 25 team members at the new hotel and restaurant and is especially keen on attracting residents, and those out of education, employment or training, to join the team.

The task of opening a new Premier Inn hotel is considerable in normal times. Working in a different way under COVID-19 restrictions means the task takes longer as the team work to open the hotel in a socially distanced and safe way. The hotel will also be opening with Premier Inn’s enhanced hygiene promise, Premier Inn CleanProtect, in place to help guests stay with confidence.

All being well, the new Peterborough City Centre Premier Inn is targeted to open at the end of November.

Marie Dukes Brown, New Openings Manager for Premier Inn, said: “We are looking forward to opening our newest hotel and restaurant in Peterborough City Centre, so that even more people will now be able to enjoy all that the town centre has to offer.

“As a business, we’re absolutely committed to investing back into the areas where we operate and are really pleased to have been able to bring so many important new year-round jobs to the town.

“We are looking forward to establishing ourselves as a valuable and successful member of the community as we build the team and open our doors to guests.”

Over the coming weeks Premier Inn’s new openings team will start to kick off the search for team members, who will then be fully trained ahead of the opening of the new hotel and restaurant.

Once recruitment starts jobs will be made available through local branches of the Job Centre Plus and via the www.whitbreadcareers.com website. Job vacancies for the new Peterborough City Centre hotel and restaurant are expected to be advertised through those channels towards the end of October.

Premier Inn currently operates four hotels in Peterborough including at Ferry Meadows to the west of the city centre, Hampton to the south and on Lincoln Road to the north of the city centre. The business also operates a 99-bedroom hotel at Junction 16 of the A1(M).
