Hairdressing entrepreneur from Peterborough area chosen for £10k mentorship programme by L'Oreal and HJ magazine
A businesswoman who owns hair salons in Peterborough and Bourne has been chosen for a L’Oreal mentorship programme – worth £10,000.
Liza Raby has been been selected for a much-coveted place with The HJ Business Boardroom (Hairdressers Journal magazine), working in partnership with L’Oréal Professionnel.
She will be among a select few chosen to receive a year-long mentorship and leadership development programme led by Sean Hanna – a multi award-winning hair stylist and entrepreneur who runs one of the UK’s leading hair salon groups.
The programme aims to “support emerging hairdressing business leaders with expert guidance, exclusive industry access and VIP networking opportunities”.

Liza, who runs Spencer’s Hair Salon and ‘Burghley Hair.Beauty.Academy’ - both in Peterborough, and LH Hair Design in Bourne, said: “I didn’t just want to run a salon – I wanted to build something that makes a difference. So I’m incredibly proud that I’ve been selected for the HJ Business Boardroom - an incredible opportunity and investment into business growth, valued at £10,000.”
“During my interview with Sean Hanna, I asked one important question - can I bring my business partner Hannah Lowndes with me, because we are as one? After some consideration the answer was ‘yes’.
“That moment meant everything, because everything I’ve built has never just been about me, it’s about people, partnership, and growing together."
As participants, Liza and Hannah will receive a full year of mentorship from a proven business leader who will share the strategies and principles that shaped their own success. This will include travel expenses to L'Oréal Academy and a VIP invite to L'Oréal Colour Trophy 2026, giving them the opportunity to network and celebrate what is considered to be one of the biggest nights in hairdressing.

At the end of the year, the person who creates the most compelling business plan will be invited to join their exclusive member club and provided with tickets to the British Hairdressing Business Awards 2027.
Liza, from Bourne, added: “From starting with very little, to building multiple businesses and now expanding into a training academy, this feels like the next chapter. I know there’s another level, and I’m ready to learn, be challenged, and step into it fully.”
