The Railway on Station Road in Whittlesey re-opened this week following a 10-week £300,000 refurbishment by Star Pubs and Bars and a new licensee, Simon Bains, who comes from Peterborough.

North East Cambridgeshire MP, Steve Barclay, celebrated the Railway’s re-opening by pulling the inaugural pint.

Steve said: “I was delighted to be at the Railway pub’s re-opening and was very impressed by the refurbishment.

“I wish Simon the very best of luck for the future, and encourage those from Whittlesey and beyond to visit and enjoy what the Railway now has to offer.”

Simon said the new staff would make the pub a good local.

He said: “Everyone comes from the area, so there are familiar faces to welcome customers.”
