How you can help find Peterborough’s ‘Fierce Talent’

Peterborough’s Jumped Up theatre company have launched a new campaign, Fierce Talent, to support local artists to increase their profiles, reach new audiences and develop their skills.

Fierce Talent is being delivered in partnership with the Youth Inspired organisation and young people are at the heart of the project.

Six young people, aged 16–24, will be the Fierce Talent Sounding Board. They will meet regularly from now until July to help shape the project. More young people can take part in creative writing sessions and interviews, creating a storyboard about creativity in the city.

And when lockdown is lifted a campaign film will be made about the range of creatives in the city, that represent and inspire Peterborough’s young people, from beatboxers and street artists, to filmmakers and dancers.

Everyone is invited to get involved by nominating the local creative talent that inspires them. Local artists and arts organisations will then feature in a social media and press campaign throughout March, and in the Fierce Talent film, all aiming to inspire the next generation of creatives.

“I hope Fierce Talent will get the same support our #1000Moments campaign, which has 35k views of the film and lots of great feedback about the portraits, still featured in the Queensgate shopping centre,” explains Kate Hall, Jumped Up’s Creative Producer.

“We particularly need young people to come forward and shape their story, by taking part in the Sounding Board and workshops, and telling us about the city’s most inspiring talent.”

Jumped Up is also teaming up with The Key Theatre to run eight different Fierce Talent masterclasses in March for local professional performers, working towards a new show, Rent Party by Darren Pritchard, in July 2021.

Something else to look forward to!
