A Peterborough family won a dream holiday when Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway programme visited the city

A Peterborough family won a dream holiday when popular TV show Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway visited the city last night (March 27).

The show has a regular feature which has seen Fleur East travel across the country with the “takeaway rainbow”.

If people can spot the rainbow out of their window on a Saturday night they have the chance to enter the draw and win a holiday.

Last night’s show illuminated Peterborough Cathedral in rainbow colours and presenter Fleur East and a TV crew were then pictured running down BRoadway in the city centre before surprising a family by knocking on the door and handing over a holiday voucher.

City councillor John Peach who lives opposite the house surprised by the TV crew said: “It was funny really. A friend messaged to say they were in Peterborough and could I see the rainbow lights?

“I could, so I switched the show on and watched more closely. I kept watching and of course recognised the house near mine.

“I know the family and it was great to see. There were more security guards in masks than people watching outside the house.

“They are a very nice family and good luck to them. They were certainly very excited.”

A Cathedral spokesperson said: “ITV contacted us out of the blue a couple of weeks ago to say they’d come across our ‘amazing cathedral’ and thought it would be a perfect location for their takeaway rainbow segment.

“They sent one of their team on a site visit and then, just a few days ago, confirmed that they’d definitely be coming.

“They were great to work with and it was wonderful to see Peterborough on national Saturday night TV!”
