Fletton Parkway closed in Peterborough as lorry cab bursts into flames

The westbound carriageway of the Fletton Parkway has been closed following a lorry fire.
The fire happened between Stanground and Hampton.
Drivers are being urged to avoid the area while emergency services work at the scene.

Hide AdA Cambridgeshire Police spokesperson said: “We were called at about 2.15pm today (8 April) with reports of a lorry cab on fire on the A1139 Fletton Parkway.
"Fire are at the scene and the road is currently blocked.”
A spokesperson for Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “At 2.08pm crews from Stanground, Dogsthorpe and Ramsey along with the north roaming fire engine were called to a lorry trailer on fire on A1139 Fletton Parkway Westbound.
“Wearing breathing apparatus firefighters are working hard using hose reels to tackle the fire and good progress is being made.
“A road closure is in place while the incident is being dealt with. People are urged to take care and avoid the area if travelling in the city. We hope to have everything cleared as soon as possible.”
