Peterborough’s Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice has been closed to new admissions after an outbreak of COVID-19.

Today, a spokesman for the hospice said: “Following an outbreak of COVID-19 at Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice we have taken advice from Public Health England and as a result we are temporarily closing the inpatient unit to new admissions.

“We will be continuing to enforce all infection control measures and along with Public Health England we will re-assess the situation in a week’s time.

“Once we are confident that new patients would not be at risk of contracting the virus whilst at the hospice, we will re-open to new admissions.”

Last month Sue Ryder, the charity which runs the hospice put out an appeal for extra funding and PPE equipment.
