Latest estimate on repair time as cable fault sparks power cut in centre of Peterborough

Engineers working on a cable fault that has caused a major power cut in central Peterborough today (March 7) say they hope to restore a full service by this evening.

UK Power Networks said the power cut has been caused by a fault on an underground electricity cable.

Homes and businesses in central Peterborough have been affected since just before 10am this morning.

UK Power Networks said engineers are on site and carrying out repairs and in its latest update estimated power should be fully restored between 8.30-9.30pm this evening.

The central area of Peterborough was also hit by a power cut on Friday (March 5).

Power outages were reported in the central PE1 area of the city, encompassing Rivergate, Station Road, Bishop’s Road and Northminster in Friday’s power cut.
