The Broadway Theatre and Bill Kenwright Ltd is calling on schools in Peterborough to show off their singing skills and win a night out at the theatre!
Pupils from local primary and secondary schools are being asked to recreate a classic moment from The Sound of Music in their own style - and the winner could bag themselves a chance for their school to see the five-star production just in time for Christmas.
Students and their teachers can choose from two of the musical’s classic songs to perform - DO-RE-MI and MY FAVOURITE THINGS – which they can either keep true to the original or turn them into something unique and completely different.
They could make a pop music video of Do-Ri-Me, a rock version of My Favorite Things with their band or even turn the lyrics into a rap!
Schools can enter as a group, solo, a choir, duet, or even with their favourite teachers!
Entries will be judged by BBC’s The Voice runner-up Lucy O’Byrne, who will be making her musical theatre debut at The Broadway from December 2 as Maria von Trapp.
The closing date for the competition is Tuesday, November 24, and all entries must be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org.
T&Cs apply, selected performances only.
The Sound of Music, which stars BBC One’s The Voice runner-up Lucy O’Byrne and award-winning actor and TV heartthrob Gray O’Brien, runs from Wednesday, December 2, until Saturday, December 12.
Evening performances start at 7.30pm and matinees at 2.30pm.
