The Drive-in Cinema company is currently advertising an event that will take place on December 20 and 21 at the East of England Arena showground.

Organisers say that the event will include screenings of Home Alone and The Grinch on the first day, followed by Elf and Love Actually the following day.

They also say there will be food available on site.

The Peterborough Telegraph, however, understands that the event has yet to receive final confirmation from the arena management and the event is yet to appear on the events list on the Showground’s website.

A spokesperson for the East of England Arena said: “There’s nothing officially in place regarding this event, the organiser seems to have jumped the gun a little on going to market.

“The venue team is trying to reach the organiser to clarify. However, there is every likelihood it will go ahead and we will update on Monday.”

The Drive-In Cinema remains confident that the event will take place.

A spokesperson said: “The event is still going ahead as planned, if there are any changes, then it will be made aware on our social channels, directly to our customers via email and on the East of England website.”

There is also a christmas fireworks event proposed for December 20 at the site.

The Peterborough Telegraph understands that it would be possible to coordinate both events on the same weekend.

Following the success of the drive-in bonfire night event this month, organisers have expressed their wish to hold another fireworks event at Christmans, with the proposed date being December 20.
