PREPARATIONS are nearly complete for a gala at Nene Valley Railway with the arrival of a prestigious engine.
The Kinlet Hall 4936 steamed its way along the rails to the Wansford attraction on Friday for its first-ever visit to Peterborough ahead of next weekend’s “East Meets West” steam gala.
The railway holds regular galas, with this weekend’s also featuring The Duke of Gloucester 71000 engine, which is due to arrive at the railway at around 11.30pm today.
Both of the steam locomotives went out of service in the 1960s and, along with the railway’s home fleet of trains, will play a major part in the gala which will run on Saturday and Sunday, September 10 & 11.
Jonathan Headland, commercial administrator at the railway, said: “The Kinlet Hall came in on Friday and we have one final more steam locomotive coming in on Monday night. Then they will all be in place for the gala. We are looking forward to the event.”
