The Secret Circus merges Peterborough talent with nationally renowned artists for two days of performances, installations and workshops in a takeover of Peterborough’s Key Theatre this weekend.

Watch award-winning theatre, listen to local musicians or develop your own creative skills with workshops covering theatre, dance, art and music, on Saturday and Sunday.

The Secret Circus has been programmed by Emerge: Creative Producers Peterborough – providing training and support for artists and creative producers aged 16-25.


20 Stories High Present Black: Saturday, 6:30pm, £5

Be elevated by 20 Stories High’s latest stage show Black. This provocative and engaging new show digs deep at the heart of racial tensions in the UK today. Followed by a late night jam with the cast and local music leaders Beat This; all performers welcome.

Freak Speak: The Next Freak Show: Saturday, 9:30pm, £2

Wickedly subverts the modern freak; blending cabaret, language and horror to create something terrifyingly absurd.

Lars and the Real Girl (film screening): Saturday, 9pm, free but requires booking.

Ryan Gosling stars as a delusional young man who strikes up an unconventional relationship with a doll he finds on the Internet.

Unplugged: Sunday, 2pm-6pm

Local talent takes to the stage for a laid back afternoon of live acoustic music.

Develop your physical theatre skills in a free workshop with the internationally renowned Frantic Assembly.

Beat This Music Production workshops: Saturday, 2pm and 4:30pm. Free but requires booking.

Gain an insight into formulating complete songs in any style or genre, no previous experience necessary.

20 Stories High Forum Theatre workshop: Saturday, 2pm. Free but requires booking.

Work with the actors from the evening show, Black; using Forum theatre techniques to explore what is good and hard about being a young person today.

Zoo Nation hip hop dance workshops: Sunday, 12noon, 2pm, 4pm. Free but requires booking.

Join the UK’s leading Hip Hop Dance Theatre company in an energetic workshop for beginners and veterans alike that will introduce you to a world where narrative meets rhythm.

Experimental Drawing Workshop: Sound & Space: Sunday, 12noon- 4pm. Free but requires booking.

Push your boundaries 
and understanding of drawing in this imaginative workshop investigating drawing 
in response to sound and space.

Patchwork workshop: Sunday, 12noon-6pm. Free but requires booking.
