The second annual Peterborough Music Hub Youth Music Awards took place at the Key Theatre last week and was attended by music organisations working within the city as well as the performers who had been shortlisted for the seven categories and their families.
This glitzy red carpet event is built from a vision to shine the spotlight on and promote musicians in the local area.
The judges were excited by the variety of genres nominated proving that Peterborough with its ever expanding musical population and diversity has a rich selection of original talent.
The evening included live performances from Francesca Rossetti, Lydia Cochrane, KY Glee, Dhol Ensemble and Matt Howard.
Geoff Ellerby, manager of the Peterborough Music Partnership said: “Picking the winners is never easy; it was as always a hard-fought contest. The award ceremony fulfilled its promise by giving recognition and credit to these young people. Peterborough Music Hub is committed to cultivating and nurturing that talent.”
The evening finished with an After Party Jam Night compered by previous winner Xidus Payne and DJ Alice J with fabulous performances by Calma & Amy, Asha, Imran, Sam and Flyn, Claudia and Bob.
The categories and winners were: Best soloist/vocalist won by Jericho Taylor, Best Instrumental Group, Among Giants Band, Best Instrumentalist, two winners, Emma Benetto and Lewis Chadwick, Best Vocal Group KY Glee, Best Young Leader was Matt Howard, Best under 12 Vocalist was Thomas Dunleavy and Best under 12 Instrumentalist was won by Danny Walton Brennan.
